LOS ANGELES (AP) — Anthony Davis knew he had to have a giant sport to assist the Los Angeles Lakers finish a five-game shedding streak.
After being motivated by an unlikely supply, he put collectively his greatest sport of the season.
“I used to be watching the Green Bay Packers sport (vs. the Dallas Cowboys) and Aaron Rodgers threw Allen Lazard 40 yards at an angle. He was versatile and that motivated me,” said Davis, who had a season-high 37 points and 18 rebounds in Sunday night’s Lakers 116-103 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
“I knew I had to dominate to get that win. With LeBron (James) out, a lot of people are counting on me to get the job done.”
Davis snagged 10 offensive rebounds for a career-high in a regular-season game while the Lakers consistently led. Davis averaged just 8.6 points in the second half but had 21 against the Nets, including 15 in the third quarter.
“I used to be making an attempt to get to the paint and rating inside though I knew they’d restricted shot blockers,” Davis said. “If we put it on the rim I might have a guard and an opportunity to get an offensive rebound.”
Davis was not only active on the boards but also in his shot selection. All but two of his 25 attempts were in the paint.
“That was the plan and figuring out how to give it more touch and rhythm. Everything was aggressive,” mentioned Lakers coach Darvin Ham.

Kevin Durant led the Nets with 31 factors, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Cam Thomas got here off the bench and scored 15 factors and Edmond Sumner added 13.
“We performed in spurts tonight. It was an ideal storm for her. They fired pictures and acquired to the sting,” Durant said.

Los Angeles’ biggest lead was 18, with four minutes remaining.
Kyrie Irving missed his sixth straight game as part of a team suspension because he refused to say he had no anti-Semitic beliefs.
