Every January, Sioux Falls turns into a burger lover’s paradise when a number of venues pull out all the stops for the annual Burger Battle in downtown Sioux Falls.
To say the idea caught on is an incredible understatement given a record number of restaurants are vying for the top burger crown in 2023.
Each of the 32 burgers is rated by the audience in five different categories:
Our final stop is the Falls Overlook Cafe in Falls Park for the “BCB Burger”.

6 oz Beef Chuck Patty topped with melted Stensland Family Farms Colby Jack and garlic cheese curd, pineapple salsa, arugula, bacon bourbon sauce and chipotle aioli on a toasted pretzel bun – served with kettle chips.
Even before the first bite, this one has a lot to offer.
Let’s start with one of my favorite things – a delicious pretzel bun.
The other big highlight is the abundance of Stensland cheese in the form of a giant curd of garlic and Colby Jack sitting right on top of the burger.
Inside lies the pineapple salsa, which has just the right balance of sweet and tangy. It makes it a bit messy which might make walking it a bit of a challenge, but well worth it.

An 8 ounce. Beef patty on fried onion strips and a creamy peanut butter spread. Topped with goat cheese, cranberry compote and feta cheese crumbles. Served on a pretzel bun.
8 ounces. Hand-baked Angus burger with cheese curd and strips of gyros meat. Toppings include lettuce, pickled tomatoes, and caramelized peppers/onions. Topped off with our signature blend of taziki and ranch sauce. Served with freshly cut fries.
6 oz. Certified Angus Beef, Ranch House Bacon, Smoked Cheddar, Fried Chicken Skin, Butter Leaf Lettuce, Ranch House Buffalo, Look’s Brioche.
8 ounce freshly ground buffalo burger with beef bacon, cheddar, provolone and Boursin cheese on a bed of shredded lettuce, tomato and cucumber, drizzled with Sriracha Ranch. Served with our homemade fries.
A 1/3lb. All Beef Patty with hand-sliced beef and lamb gyros, tzatziki sauce, grilled onions and American cheese on a grilled brioche bun – the perfect burger for Hermes, the god of meat, and the son of Zeus. Served with a side of feta cheese and french fries.

Our version of the New York staple consists of shredded cheese, seasoned ground beef, cheese, pickles and onions with special house sauce on a toasted hoagie. Be sure to add all the side dishes, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeños, ketchup and mustard. Served with side fries and Kool-Aid pickle.

Our steak burger has a juice-marinated ribeye cut. We use Bread Smith bread, pepper jack cheese, bacon, tomatoes, pickled red onions, spring mix and house sauce.

Our spiced 1/2 pound certified Angus beef patty is succulently filled with Munster and American cheese, Lucy-style, and served on a bed of lettuce and red cabbage.

Italian for “cure,” our Italian beef game consists of a local Wagyu beef patty from Dimock, SD, seasoned with a house blend of herbs and spices, bone marrow aioli, thinly sliced nappa, cheddar cheese and giardiniera, all served on a toasted cheddar breadsmith bun. Served with a side of spiced chips and au jus, made with our Remedy Amber Ale.
