Sununu says Trump ‘mucking up’ ’24 announcement

Some Republicans could worry former President Donald Trump’s political prowess, however New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu just isn’t amongst them.

During a nationwide radio interview on Friday, the GOP governor criticized Trump’s reported choice to launch his 2024 bid this week, saying it was “stupid” and revealing the previous president’s lack of knowledge of “ground game politics.”

And, Sununu added, Trump’s transfer dangers “screwing up” Republicans’ hopes of successful the US Senate runoff in Georgia and thereby potential management of the Senate.

Sununu, simply re-elected by a 15-point margin amid a blue wave in Granite State, made his feedback on Julie Mason’s Sirius XM radio program.

When requested if Trump’s choice to announce this week was “good” or “terrible,” Sununu selected the latter.

“Find me someone in America who thinks this is a good idea,” Sununu laughed. Sununu, who has hinted he might run within the race himself, stated Trump’s choice will not hold anybody out of the race — although Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) stated he determined to not run quickly after Trump’s choice clearly, an announcement was on the best way.

Sununu added that Trump’s choice raises questions on his political acumen.

“It’s going to be a really awkward factor when it is simply him within the working. Nobody will actually care. It’s going to be bizarre,” Sununu said. “I do not assume they thought that by means of very nicely.

“He’s actually nice at understanding the intestine feeling of the voters that connects to the anger and hearth of lots of people. But in the case of political instincts in floor fight, that might be a silly choice.”

It wasn’t the primary time Sununu had lashed out at Trump. After Tuesday evening’s GOP fade, he advised Fox News the election outcomes harm Trump’s trigger.

“Do you see a lot of people saying, ‘Gosh, I can’t wait to be arm in arm with former President Trump’ after we’ve had the results we’ve had?” Sununu requested. “I can not imagine that. There’s going to be a lot of distancing: from money, from voters, from people clearly saying they’ve decided it’s time for us to move on.”

Sununu additionally referred to as out Sen. Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) for bringing a nationwide abortion ban into the race, and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) for “getting scared people” together with his Social Security proposals. “You have unnecessarily poured gas on the fire.”

Sununu is hardly alone in blaming Donald Trump for the GOP’s struggles. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a longtime Trump ally, added his personal criticism.

“We lost 18. We lost 20. We lost 21 in Georgia. And now, in 1922, we’re going to lose governorships, we won’t get the number of seats in the House that we thought we would, and we may not win the Senate, despite a president who has a job 40 percent approval,” Christie stated . “There’s only one person to blame for this, and that’s Donald Trump.”
