Dale “Red” Crandell, 86
Dale “Red” R. Crandell, 86, of Grand Island, died November 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving household.
The viewing shall be held on the All Faiths Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27 from 5-7 p.m.
A celebration of life service shall be held on Monday, November 28 at 10:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church. the revs Elly Karges and Anny Kapundu will officiate. The funeral service will happen on Tuesday twenty ninth November at 11am in Blair Cemetery.
Dale was born on January 21, 1936 in Kimball County to Joseph and Eda (Kilburn) Crandell. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1952. In 1958 Dale enlisted within the United States Marine Corps and served proudly till 1964. On November 23, 1960, Dale was married to Gay Lee Petersen; The couple relocated from Oceanside, California to Washington DC, the place Dale started his profession at IBM. During his tenure at IBM, he assisted many authorities companies, together with the Library of Congress, the Pentagon, and the White House. The couple was blessed with the delivery of two youngsters in Washington, DC. From there, the couple moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, Omaha, and at last, in 1983, to Grand Island. Dale retired from IBM in 1992.
Dale was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In his free time, he loved woodworking and spending time in nature, together with searching, fishing, and gardening. Dale has spent a lot of his free time volunteering with many organizations together with the Nebraska State Fair, Central Nebraska Crain Trust, Trinity Methodist Men’s Group, Pancake Feeds, Soup Supers and extra. His best love was spending time along with his spouse, youngsters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his 62-year-old spouse, Gay; youngsters, Diana (Dean) Hast of Grand Island and William “Todd” (Peggy) Crandell of Minneapolis, Minn; grandchildren, Sara, Scott, Amanda and Audrey; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard (Susan) Crandell of Rapid City, SD, and Robert (Hazel) Crandell of Junietta; and a sister, Alvena Hughs von Gering.
Dale was preceded in loss of life by his dad and mom, Joseph and Eda Crandell; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Golda Petersen; brothers, Donald, Willard (Joan), Edward (Rhetta) and Schuylar (Peggy); sister and brother-in-law, Madge and Bill Smith, Jody and Aug Stricker; and grandson, Will Crandell.
