Britt Prince’s 30 points propels Class B No. 1 Elkhorn North to win over Bennington
Things are getting back to normal for the Elkhorn North girls basketball team.
That means winning. And a lot.
Britt Prince scored 30 points on Friday night to lead No. 1 Tier B Wolves to a 65-22 away win over No. 9 Bennington. Elkhorn North, the two-time defending champion, drew to 3-1 and dropped the Badgers to 2-2.
Wolves, who led 34-14 at halftime, appear to have shaken off a preseason loss to No. 2 Omaha Skutt. They only lost once all last season.
“We shot the ball terribly (against Skutt),” said coach Ann Prince. “We only have two returning starters, so it’s going to be a while before we’re jelly-ready.”
Prince’s daughter, Britt, who holds more than 30 Division I fellowship offers, led the way. She hit 13 in the first half and 17 in the second while also catching a game-high 14 rebounds.

The 5-foot-11 junior guards helped Wolves open up some daylight late in the first half after Bennington slipped inside of seven. Within minutes she hit two middle jumpers, a 3-point shot and had a back-the-back assist.
It is certain that none of this escaped the notice of the North Carolina and Arizona coaches who attended the game.
“Britt loosened up in the second quarter and got going,” said Ann Prince. “That was nice to see.”
Grace Thompson added 10 points for Elkhorn North in the first half, where two players are out with knee injuries.
“We got off to a slow start offensively,” said Ann Prince. “But our defense and rebounds were really good.”
The Wolves return on Saturday and travel to North Platte.
Kailey O’Grady scored eight points to beat the Badgers, who host Saturday’s Omaha Gross.

2021: Showstopper
This year’s crop of high school basketball talent could be remembered as one of the best in state history. Like a great movie of all time – think The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Casablanca – could these 10 players belong to this top class? Either way, this year’s Prep Hoops season was a must. And unlike some big-budget films, the courtroom drama lived up to the hype. It was a blockbuster state tournament with big stars, twists in the plot and lots of action. So take a moment to look for (top row from left) Frankie Fidler, Saint Thomas, Isaac Traudt, (middle) Taylor McCabe, Britt Prince, Grace Cave, (bottom) Hunter Sallis, Chucky Hepburn, Allison Weidner and Alexis Markowski stole the show. And what a show it was.
